No Desktop Shorcuts java 8 & El Capitan

Has anyone had the same issue that I am having. Since upgrading our java after sorting out the new Java SSL issues with Servoy, i no long get desktop shortcuts appearing when i download servoy instances.
Additionally, when I go to the Java control panel and do the create shortcut routine from the cache view, that also doesnt work.
I have read somewhere that it may be due to the JNLP not being specific to the OS and tried making those changes to the jnlp file, but that doesnt work either.
I also tried clearing my java cache completely and redownloading and that doesnt work either.
Just wondered whether anyone else has experience the same and if there is an easy fix.
