Fresh Installation of Servoy 8.4.2

Q&A regarding installation and issues getting started with Servoy

Fresh Installation of Servoy 8.4.2

Postby warren » Sun Dec 03, 2017 5:53 pm

I am trying to install Servoy on Windows and it does not install properly for the Postgres part. When I look at the admin page it just shows error. I had thought that if I installed Visual Studio 2017 first then Servoy everything worked, but I must have made an error in my notes. Anyone know what needs to be installed for Servoy to work on a fresh Windows PC?

what is the exact error when you starting it up?

it could be that you need to also install https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=48145
or maybe a lower version here is the full list: http://www.standaloneofflineinstallers. ... ndows.html

I thought the current version was 8.2.1 with 8.2.2 available as an RC or am I missing something here?

I think what we are missing is a version-spell-checker. ;)

Sad that a $2,000+ cost product cannot install properly. Not sure how good a platform is when you cannot even install it. All I get is "ERROR: NOT ONLINE. See log for details." I uninstall it, then install Visual Studio 2017 and thought that had fixed it. It doesn't. So while a link to every Visual C runtime is helpful, not sure why there is not a simple answer as to what dependency needs to be checked on the installer that it is not installing.

As for what version: Servoy version 8.2.1 -releaseNumber 3105

Hoping to be able to actually use the product to see how it can help me.

Hi Warren,

To repeat the question of Johan in this thread. What is the exact error you get ?
Also is this a Developer install or a Servoy Server install?

Hi Warren,

Would you please check log file to see what is exactly the error?
The log file can be found <servoy_install_path>/application_server/servoy_log.txt

is this purely about the installer? (so this is not running servoy developer after install?)

what option do you check?
Is this about "Download and install PostgreDB...." ?
What happens if you just do everything as default?

I ran the uninstall bat file, and removed the C:\Servoy directory, and ran the JAR installer and everything is working. Mina had me try to manually have postgres create the database then Servoy would just stall at startup with "An error has occurred. See log file null" with an OK button. If I ran it as Admin it would launch but still not databases - off line in the admin page. But JAR install worked like a champ.

Thank you all for your thoughts on this issue.
