Combobox on Java 7 Mac vs Windows ?

Postby gdurniak » Tue Nov 13, 2012 5:09 pm

We just tried Servoy Client 6.1 on a new Mac 10.8.2 with Java 7, and the Combobox drop downs don't drop. They seem to disappear

It does appear to work on Windows 7

Anyone else having problems ?

If it's that clear - just putting a combo with a simple valuelist and it won't work, you can file a case.
Don't forget to specify the exact Mac/Java/Servoy versions.

Greg,

this is known issue with Java 7 on Mac!
the only way to open the combobox is give it focus, and than hit the space bar!

This is (so far the only reason) we suggest our customers NOT to upgrade to java 7 on OSX.

Andrei, We knew that this was happening a long time, but thought, it's a Oracle Java bug. you think you can fix this in Servoy?

If it's the same on a simple Java app, then it's a Java issue. Did you see other Java users out there complaining about the same things?

If it only happens in Servoy, then it's probably a specific use of the combobox that we have (we use some very specific settings for the combos to make them work as we want them to) and it's no longer compatible with the new Oracle VM. I didn't actually look into it.

Our IT guys are saying that a new Mac comes with Java 7, and can not be downgraded ( possibly because previous versions are no longer posted )

Is it possible to downgrade a new mac ?

Was there ever a case filed for this? Now that Oracle is ending support for Java 6, it is important that this be fixed if possible. I can confirm that clicking on a non-editable combobox in Servoy 6.1.3 Smartclient on a Mac running 10.6.8 and Java 6 Update 39 works perfectly and the same combobox in the same solution does not work on a Mac running 10.7.5 and Java 7 Update 13. In Java 7, the combobox flashes briefly then disappears. If I tab into the field, the combobox appears and allows me to make a selection. This is not a problem when running the Smartclient on Windows for either version of Java.
