Printed lines are cut in half horizontally

Printed lines are cut in half horizontally

Postby bevil » Fri Oct 11, 2013 4:23 pm

I have a solution which is used to make estimates for interior design work.

Suddenly the print form (record view with headers and footers and subsummaries) are cutting text lines in half horizontally. See attached png screenshot of a pdf print from the system.

It seems that this is somehow memory related, as this particular estimate is quite large (23 printed pages - 547 lines with multiple subsummaries).

It seems only to affect the print with a large data set. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me which memory parameter to change to fix this.

The solution is running on Mac (10.5 or 10.6 I think) with Servoy version 4.1.7 -build 690 and Sybase 10.

Thanks

Nobody has seen this problem before?? It seems now that my customer has this issue in a subset of lines in one particular estimate..

I cannot figure out why this is happening...

Anyone seen it before?

Yes, have seen this before and a bunch of other strange issues.
Tried to discover a pattern which was not do-able.
Ever since I'm using either Jasper or Velocity.

Jasper when it needs to be pixel perfect.
Velocity when I want a lightning fast nice report.

but if it is memory related you can quickly test that i guess?
just up the memory quite a bit to see if that fixes it?

Hi Johan

I don't think it is a memory issue. It happens in my own developer version of Servoy with the same dbs backed up from last night. It happens in EXACTLY the same place (on page 24 out of 37 pages). It happens on Mac and PC clients, it ONLY happens to 14 records (out of 875 in total in this 'estimate'). Also, the pdf actually does have the data present (you can copy and paste out of the pdf into a text editor).

The problem occurs on ONE estimate (out of 2308 estimates in the system - each of which have multiple lines, and many of which have more lines than this particular one)

If I place the bad fields ABOVE the other fields in Acrobat Pro after the pdf is created, it fixes the problem.

Also, If I remove these lines, the problem goes away, but if I then re-add them in the same place, the problem comes back.

Attached is the full pdf with contact detail removed. See page 24 for the problem

Might be related, not sure.. The price for each line is not lined up with the line its-self, even though they are perfectly in line in developer design mode.

The client is going nuts with me as they have to get this particular estimate out asap. I am having to fix it in Acrobat trial version in order to allow them to send out.

I have been trying to reposition elements (bring forward / push back / move around etc.) and nothing makes any difference.

Attached is a screenshot of the form in design mode. description and retail are the problem fields.

Thanks for any help anyone can give with this.
