Servoy 6.1.3

Postby Jan Blok » Tue Nov 27, 2012 4:50 pm

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Servoy 6.1.3 release (releaseNumber 1424).

This version is available through the download option on the Servoy website and auto-update.
Always make a backup of your current Servoy installation (directory and database) before installing/upgrading.
To update a Servoy eclipse open Check for updates via help menu.

Thanks to the external testers for helping out to get a solid release!

Small behaviour changes:
1) SVY-3354 No (default) background color set on non-transparent tabpanel in WC
For Web Client, we added the default background color as default CSS to each container (tabpanel,split pane, accordion). This change may affect solutions using a custom default CSS or solutions that do not have transparent flag set correctly on container. Due to this change transparent flag on container has more strict behavior (so non transparent container will show default color).
2) SVY-3220 Methods are not executed when in find mode (in table view only)
targetfoundset.loadRecord(sourcefoundset) no longer copies the foundset filters from the sourcefoundset to the targetfoundset.
When targetfoundset and/or sourcefoundset have foundset filters, they are both applied to the sql in targetfoundset, but after a targetfoundset.loadAllrecords() call, targetfoundset is back to its original state with only the targetfoundset filters from before the loadRecords(foundset) call.

Some new warnings are appearing in my solutions. The variable 'e' defined in the try/catch statement (try { x } catch (e) { # }) used to have the properties message and name. Now Servoy does not recognize those properties as valid and does not appear to know the variable's type. If I now need to include a JSDoc variable definition for the exception variable, how should the try/catch statement be constructed?

I saw the same problem as Steve when upgrading to 6.1.3.

The upgrade seems to solve most of the few issues I had with 6.1.2.

I also see warnings for functions that pass a JSRecord variable from the main solution to a function in a module. I have created case SVY-3488 for this one. This doesn't appear to affect the functionality of the methods, but it seems like the warning is erroneous.

I too feel that this upgrade has solved the issues I had in 6.1.2. Great job as always!

I agree, it seems that with each new version of Servoy 6.x the parser is getting dumber and dumber, it's really annoying that you have to type almost every single variable now. :(

Sometimes you have to type simple int variables otherwise they are not recognized, like:
var num = 0;

Datasets are not recognized reliably anymore, for example when you do:
Code: Select all
var ds = databaseManager.getDatasetByQuery(...)
// then later:
foundset.loadRecords(ds); // warning!

I see this too and not in all cases.

As what type of variable should 'e' be defined? Is it a ServoyException type? That type has a method for getMessage() but not a property for message.

The catch(e) is already fix, problem was that in the dltk something i made was reverted, this is because i typed "e" as an Error (js exception object) but "e" doesn't have to be a exception at all (because you can do "throw 1" and then e is just a Number
For now i made "e" an Error again in the dltk version of Servoy, in the future this will be default but you are able to override it as catch(/** @type {Number*/ e) but when that will happen is not decided yet.

Patrick: there is constantly a lot of changes, it is getting better and better the only problem is that in the release of 6.1.3 there are some regressions because of those changes, for the most part they are all fixed already in the current open source code.
What do you mean with "var num = 0", compared to what else?
Also your dataset example is working fine for me (in the current code, didn't test in the actual 6.1.3)

Johan: I know there are lots of changes, and I know you are working on making it better, but from 6.1.0 to 6.1.3, I'm positive that I've had to add new JSDocs with every update, where previous version was interpreting the variables just fine.

In the case of the dataset, here's what I see in 6.1.3:
warning.png

And the warning is "The function loadRecords(JSFoundSet) is not applicable for the arguments (?)"
It disappears of course if I put
/** @type {JSDataSet} */ before the "var ds = ..." line

As to: "var num = 0;" of course the warning is not directly in this line, but later.
I would have to chase some example of places where using num later is not recognized and where I had to put /** @type {Number} */ before that declaration, but I can assure you I've seen the case.
I'll try to make more notes of that in the future instead of patiently adding some more JSDocs.

i can just say, don't add just doc, just report it if you expect it to work. Then i will fix it asap.
this works fine for me in the current code:

var ds = databaseManager.convertToDataSet([1,2,3]);
if (ds) {
var fs = databaseManager.getFoundSet("","");
fs.loadRecords(ds);
}

if you hover over ds variable what does it say?

Can menuPKs be null? Because that is the only way that ds can be null (so you need if(ds))

Big problem.

I updated an active solution from 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 first in Developer. Because of the set up here this can only run in web client. This whole solution has been recently upgraded from 5.2 to 6.1.2 and switched from mainly smart client to only web client. In Developer sometime after the upgrade I noticed that when launching a web client that that client could not load more than one record. If I did a find that returned more than one, it crashed the web page with the message: "Internal error Return to home page". Finding just one record worked without any error. Launching a smart client from Developer also worked with no errors regardless of how many records were found. I thought that perhaps it was something to do with the few changes I had made to the solution and as I wasn't having any trouble with the solution I had on the server I decided to try and figure out what I could have done and left everything alone on my production server. Today though I upgraded the exact same solution on my test server to 6.1.3 and got exactly the same error! Running fine before on 6.1.2 but upgraded to 6.1.3 and immediately crashed when finding more than one record.

Below is the error reported in the servoy-admin page from the test server when this happens. Also copied below is the error from the servoy-admin page when running it from Developer (they are almost the same).

Any ideas? This is a pretty big problem as I have now upgraded my solution and I'm not 100% sure I can work out which export of the solution was the last one before I upgraded. If I do figure that out I suppose I can start a new developer using 6.1.2 and import that solution into it. (Or maybe the current solution running under 6.1.3 could be imported into a 6.1.2 instance of Servoy?). If that works I could then export that in .WAR file to wipe out the old .WAR install and have 6.1.2 running. But maybe there is some simple explanation for this crash from the upgrade?

Please advise...

N.B. I also have another solution running on a separate server that was upgraded from 6.0.7 to 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 and has none of these problems. So I'm presuming it is related in some way to the solution but it only manifested itself in the upgrade to 6.1.3. There were and are no errors and only 3 warnings on that problem solution with the warnings all related to the fact I have some deprecated 'RowBGColorCalc' functions running.

Further update...
After that last response I thought I'd try removing the RowBGColorCalcs from being called on the three forms. And bingo that seemed to do it. The main use of that function is in a form on the left side that allows the data manager or MD to see at a glance certain characteristics about the foundset of patients they are currently examining. It is handy (picture worth a thousand words and all that) but if I have to get rid of it I guess I'll have to try using the onRender functions more...

@john.allen It is recommended switching to the more powerful "onRender" mechanism in which you can calculate more than just the BG color (converting to onRender should be straight forward).
The issue you have is now fixed in the next release . As a workaround to keep RowBGColorCalcs you can define the 3 styles (selected, odd,even) with empty bodies and the null pointer should go away.

When can we get a patch/fix for the issue (SVY-3488)? It is causing thousands of erroneous warnings for us and is impossible to distinguish the real issues in the code from the "fake" ones...

Re: Servoy 6.1.3 - Unresolved styleClass

Postby Kahuna » Fri Dec 07, 2012 5:12 pm

Hi Folks

We have been trialing our solution in 6.1.3 and it seems that every button has lost its link top the style. So in 6.0.8 a series of buttons are coloured blue using styleClass tci (in this instance). After opening the solution in 6.1 the styleClass is unresolved.

Obviously it will be a shed load of work to correct every instance of a missing style. Is there something we should be setting before opening a workspace or solution in 6.1?
