Q&A regarding installation and issues getting started with Servoy

Servoy Developer update to a specific Version

Postby huber » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:33 am

Hi

My goal is to update the Servoy Developer from Version 8.1.3 to 8.1.4. I am somewhat stuck to find the necessary steps to achieve the goal.

Where do I get the specific update file, in my case 8.1.4 (build 3035)?

What is the URL to get the update file? I know the following URL, but this gives me an installer instead of an updater file: http://download.servoy.com/beta/8xx_pro%20...%20r.3035.jar. Seems not what I need.

If I once have the update file downloaded, I understand I have to do something like java -jar ... in the terminal (macOS)

Is there a need to put the update file in a certain place?

If someone could list the few steps necessary that would be a great help.

Thanks in advance and regards,

Have you tried menu Help -> Check for updates?

Yes, I have tried it this way but get the latest update (version 8.2.1). But I need v 8.1.4

I found in the forum the URL to download an updater for my searched specific release: http://download.servoy.com/downloads/8xx_updates/servoy_update.jar.3035

When I try to run java -jar /path_to_update_file/servoy_update.jar.3035 in the terminal, I get:
Error: Could not find or load main class .jar

Also tried with servoy_update.jar (removed .3035) with no luck.

Does the update file to be at a certain location?

I think you have to do a new installation if you want that. The installer should be available here: http://download.servoy.com/beta/8xx_pro ... r.3035.jar

Hi Patrick

Thanks, I try to avoid a new installation. Installing overwrites everything with the install folder, does ist? I am just wondering what are the update files for when updating is not supported?

The servoy_updater is only used for an application_server.

I guess what you can do is got to Help -> install new software and click on the "Available Software Sites" link. That opens the source URLs. Add an entry called

3035

with URL

http://download.servoy.com/developer/8xx_updates/3035

and disable the Servoy update site. That should work...
