Will Drag and Drop be available? It would be much appreciated.

Drag and Drop - Example

Postby Tony_Adrian » Fri Apr 25, 2003 6:02 pm

We'll be creating a health care software solution. There will be numerous text fields for information such as relatives and the relatives' demographic information, blah, blah, blah. Often we have to retype one of the relatives in a separate field, their address into another field, ... Because the combination of what can go where is limitless - scripting pulling text from the middle of a block of text to copy it one of a dozen fields on the fly would be impossible.

Also - I can foresee creating a calender-scheduling program where changing a scheduled visit from one date to the other would be much easier if one could drag the visit to a different date as opposed to copying the data, cutting & pasting into the new date, or deleting the original data and retyping it into another date. I would envision this data to be a concatenation of the date, the health care worker, the scheduled skill and the patient.

Thanks.

This is implemented for textfields (excluding html_area) in next release 1.1 rc4
Note: due to drag&drop support in Java this will only work in 1.4.x releases of Java

Thank You

We anticipate the need for creating a "daily planner" where it will be necessary for the end user to mover the records around as the dates change. Very nice. Thank You!

Drag and drop of images

Postby Guest » Sat Sep 06, 2003 3:28 am

While you're fielding suggestions, we're integrating some web content management into our app and it would be nice to be able to drag and drop product images into a form. GIF and JPEG please.

Yeah, I saw that. But right-click isn't drag-n-drop. Right-click isn't intuitive. It has major discovery issues. Drag and drop is much easier to explain and understand.
I was just making a pie in the sky suggestion.
