global variable explanation and change

I noticed that when we go over a global variable in the outline with the mouse, or select one, that the name is given in the status bar or a tool tip.

Can we have the type added too?

And, if I am correct, when I want to change the type of a variable I have to delete it and make a new one. Can we have a possibility that, when we change the name, we can also change the type?
