Printing a portal

Postby Riccardino » Mon Mar 22, 2004 7:33 pm

Is portal printing a good solution or it's better to always create a related form "list view" and print from there?

I'm asking that because I set a portal to grow/shrink in height but, even if it has a lot of related record, the portal doesn't grow to show them all (expanding to more than a single page, if it's necessary).

I set it to show 5 rows: if the portal contains 50 records, the PrintPreview only shows 25 of them. And the portal doesn't grow to the next page: so I'd like to understand how does the portal printing feature works...

did you set your body part to allow to break accross pages?
I also think in most cases printing from a list view is more convenient

Yes.

I agree. But since the portal is very simple, I just wanted to know if I can save a form printing the portal directly... :)

I print all my invoices_lineitems in a portal.
I had the same issues as you describe, and some more...

Jan , has fixed the problems in the upcoming release.

Portal printing (incl. smartbreaking etc.) is as just as simple now (I think much simpeler), as printing by a list-view!!

What happens if I put two portals, set to grow when printing, on the same layout? Does the print grow accordingly to the size of the longest portal? It would be wonderful... :)
