Unable to launch Client/Mac OS x 10.6.8

Postby MacSince85 » Fri Jun 15, 2012 8:48 pm

Hi All

A client mac started have problems opening the smart client. It keeps returning the following error message:
Unable To Launch Client
Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system
Unsigned resource:http://localhost:8080/lib/j2db.jar

The only difference from when it was working normally is a Java update from 1.6.0_31 to 1.6.0_33.
Another Mac on the same network still works but it has not been upgraded.

Thanks for your assistance.
Mac OS X 10.9
Java 1.6.0_65, 64-Bit Server VM

Hi,

the default Java settings on Mac OS X have become more restrictive.
Open Java Preferences, go to the 'Advanced' tab. Check 'Enable Online Certificate Validation' and 'Enable list of trusted publishers' and close Java Preferences.

Try launching Servoy again.

We also use the latest Java update, and don't have those two options selected, and smart-client of Servoy 5 or 6 are working fine!
Maybe that's because we re-sign everything with the signtester tool?

I had this same error message crop up again but for a client machine running Java 1.7.0_u05 on win7.
The server version had all the jars signed using the signtester tool (latest).
Server is running Java 1.7.0_u3 and Servoy version 5.2.12

I took Swingman's response for the Mac and applied only the Enable online certification validation and it seemed to fix the problem (I had already cleared the Java cache as well).

Does this mean that this should be done from now on - on the client side that is?

We also, get more and more reports about OSX clients that are updating to the latest Java version, can't start Servoy client anymore, with the same error as above:

Unable To Launch Client
Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system
Unsigned resource:http://localhost:8080/lib/j2db.jar

So far, the only solution, is to clear the cache and re-download the client....
We did'nt have to change java settings, so far....
