Interesting development today.
Running Servoy 3.5rc2 on Linux with postgres production db and repository.
We switched from a local sybase repository for some development work to using the postgres repository with a higher release number to make things a bit easyer. From what I read in the Servoy Developer Volume I:User Guide… Chaper 23 Repository… this is ok.
The server is still running so our people can still work (Release 5) while the IT department changes a few forms around (Release 6).
Is there any problem with working this way? Using the same repository but with a different release for minor development work?
We also have tried exporting the solution then clean importing under a new name. With no one using the new solution… we still can not make changes to forms/etc.
Thanks
Paul
I haven’t tested this but when you have release 5 activated for use by the users then what release will Developer open ?
Only changes are saved when you use the latest release.
So it sounds to me that the changes are made in release 5 and therefore won’t be saved.
I guess I need to look further into this.
Just checked how to do this (never done this before).
In Developer you need to go into your repository window (menubar > file > repository…).
Then select the release you want to open in the tree and hit the Load button. This will open the release you want OTHER than the active release.
(come to think about I believe Bob Cusick has told us this before in some session)
Is this the way you worked or did you simply open the solution?
Hope this helps.
Yes… I know to open a different release than the active one. But for some reason changes are not being kept.
I open a solution… active or higher release… make a change or two… then log out of developer.
When I log back in all changes are lost.
A little frustrating.
Hi Paul,
I can understand you are frustrated about this.
I just did a little test in 3.5rc2 and when I have a lower release active and edit something in the latest release it does save my work. I restarted Developer and the changes are still there.
Just to be absolutely clear, are you editing in the latest release?
Servoy doesn’t support branching so only the latest release will keep the changes you make.
Anyway, if this keeps occuring I suggest you file a bugreport in the bugbase.
Hope this helps.
