I just tried to apply margin settings to a field set as Text_Area with scrollbars set to V:a H:wn as well as V:a H:n (Vertical always, Horizontal never)
The margin does not apply. I’ve gotta add my field “breathing room”

This is the same on OS X and also with no scrollbars set…
I also noticed that, without any margin settings, the text_field has a margin (and I like this) and with a text_area there is no ‘standard’ margin.
BTW this is with a default border…
The default margin is provided by look and feel, apply one yourselfs if it is not the wanted one
