Changing the Servoy Folder to a New Loacation

Hello All ,

I installed the Servoy into my home directory and has some solutions into it . Now i want to shift the folder to a new location .I have certaian Questions about it.

1)Is it possible or do i need a new install , and then need to import the solutions ?
2) What all things do i need to change for my application server to run ?

Thank you very much for your help .

In my experience it’s better to do a reinstall into the new location because Servoy/Eclipse has paths hardcoded in a bunch of config files.

which folder do you really talk about?

the servoy application folder (thats not by default installed in your home dir) or your workspace (thats by default in your home dir?)

Your workspace you can move just fine. Just start servoy then again and with file->switch workspace, point to it.

I think moving the install of servoy also could work just fine, but i never move an installation (default eclipse or servoy) so dont have to much experience with that.

In our experience:

1 We install Servoy to default application directory then move/rename.

2 When installing/uninstalling plugins like the BrowserSuite that have their own installers, temporarily reset to default directory.

3 When installing/uninstalling Eclipse plugins, temporarily reset to default directory.

4 Avoid renaming the Servoy developer file (pretty easy to run into problems if you are using the trick to run multiple developers from a single Servoy)

Thanks David and Johan ,

I took all those things into consideration and it worked out pretty well.
