Client Install Problem

I have installed Servoy client on 30+ machines with no real problems to speak of. Now I have been given the laptop from HELL!

I install Java 1.5 because it had nothing on it.

After java install I launch a web browser and point it to http://<servoy_server>:8080. I click on the install Servoy Client area. It brings up the spash screen “Loading Java”…
That’s it! Nothing else happens. No matter what I do, it wont launch the install.

The machine is a dell laptop running XP pro and the server is running Servoy 3.02.

I could not see any other posts like this one. Has anyone else had this problem?

Couple of quick thoughts.

Full reboot after installing Java. Firewall and/or anti-virus on the laptop ?

two options:

  • show the console of the java webstart and look for errors.
  • Look at your virusscanner/firewall software. (some software can be a pain!)
