Conversion tab on Column info on Data Provider

Hi All,
I am new to Servoy 3.5

I found lot of new things in the data provider section such as Details,
validation and conversion tab etc under database column properties

Now on the conversion tab , under the drop down StringSerializer is present.
If I select StringSerializer nothing is coming on the Property and Value field

Can any one please help me to understand what is the use of this StringSerializer and how to use
