Failed Install on XP

When I try to install on one of my xp pro boxes, I get the following error:

C:Documents and Settings/user_name/Desktop/servoy_installer.jar is not a valid Win32 application.

I have downloaded the latest java version for this machine, but it did not help. As well as all XP updates available.

This machine had a trial copy installed on it which was working.

I have had no problem on my other XP boxes or installing on OSX.

Ok I have completely uninstalled java and removed any Servoy installer and files from this machine. I then downloaded a new version of JDK installed and new Servot installer.

Now I get this error message: Could not load file/URL specified: C:\DOCUME~1\username\LOCALS~1\Temp\javaws4.

This is an IBM running XP with service pack2.

what is different on that XP machine?
when does that error occur?
Are you seeing some files with java* in youre temp dir?
Are you an administrator on that xp machine (this is required i think for installing java)

Thanks for your response. I have solved the issue, it appears that this IBM box shipped with it’s own version of Java, that was hidden. Even when i typed java -version at the command line it was not showing up. Once i found it and uninstalled it and then reiinstalled 1.4.2_01 everything worked.

It was very frustrating to say the least, when I experienced no problems at all installing on several other PC’s and OSx.
