Is there any possibility to determine the filename/type or at least the filetype from the content of a mediafield?
What we actually do is upload a file in a mediafield of the webclient, this is default Servoy behaviour and so no scripts are involved.
As the filetype could be about anything it would be very nice to have at least the type/extension of the file that’s been uploaded…
Thnkx for your input!

you can get the mimetype, use the image-plugin for that!
(watch out, not all extensions are supported!)
Hope this helps.
Have a look at viewtopic.php?f=34&t=7537&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=30#p59485
in 4.1.1 if you have a media field “mymedia”
then you can have a column or form variable “mymedia_filename” where the filename is stored
the same thing goes for “mymedia_mimetype”
this currently only works for the web (smart has other solutions)

thanks Harjo & Paul for your replies.
I think the quote Paul posted is the thing I was hoping/looking for so we’ll give that a try!
