In formating a text field, how do we force to Formal Case, ie where the first letter of each word is UPPER and the rest is lower.
Also, any pointers on formating text with Mc, Mac, hyphens and ’
eg
macdowell-o’rielly to MacDowell-O’Rielly

I think you should use title case.
Antonio, I notice you have a lot of questions and I can imagine that but…
There is a lot of information that you ask for that is:
Back to my original question, does anyone have a sample method for formating text with Mc, Mac, hyphens and ’
eg
macdowell-o’rielly to MacDowell-O’Rielly
utils.stringInitCap(name) only change the first letter.
Hi Antonio, what Marcel was trying to say is that the forum is a good place to find help and the servoy community is really open up to new people BUT there is a subtle balance everybody has to be aware of.
The forum should be used as a medium to exchange experiences and as a last resort to find help, not as a shortcut to the solution of every problem. Everyone is willing to help new members and everyone does it for free but remember that everyone has his work to do, so help is not due.
The forum is good but don’t abuse.
one more remark: what “normal” string function can be so smart to see that you want
MacDowell
from
macdowell
If you enter “Henderson” what do you want then? So why not just ask the guys that enter/provide the data to enter/provide it right?
Firstly, thanks to all for pointing out the etiquette of the forum. My initial excitement about the possibilities of Servoy has fueled many questions. In retrospect some of them were trivial Answeres were easily found once I knew where to look - but this in itself is something a newcomer needs to learn. Particular thanks to Marcel IT2BE who has been especially helpful both on and off the forum. I feel I’ve got the message now, and hope that my new questions are not mistaken as an abuse of the good people here.
It seems that this thread has left people a bit puzzled! Here’s my thinking…

Using this, MAcdowell-o’rielly → MacDowell-O’Rielly
(and henderson → Henderson )
