Foundset and forms

Hi,

I’m building a navigation system that performs a search into a tabpanel. The search action works well, but I loose the focus when I switch from a form to another (all the forms are related to the same table).

Maybe I didn’t understand correctly, but I thought that NOT choosing “Use separate foundset” meant that I could share the same foundset across the forms related to the same table, but it doesn’t seem to work this way.

I’ll make an example:
I’m on Patients Data form and I search patients into the tabpanel: I find two names (“Rick” and “John”), I choose “John” and I see all the details;
If I switch to Anamnesis Form, I would expect to end up on John’s anamnesis, but it doesn’t happen: I’m brought to the last record I browsed on this form.

So, my question is: is it possible to easily mantain the focus on the record (as you would do in filemaker creating multiple layouts on the same file and using the Go To Layout instruction), without using tabpanels?

You do the search in a tabpanel?
But a tabpanel is build up on a relation so related data is a seperate foundset by itself.

If you want to share those foundset then you have to set the foundsets i all the forms you want.

in the next beta build of 2.0 we will have an option that you can also have non related tabs. So then normal foundset will be in the tabs and you have (or better said must) control over the contents of a tab.

The tabpanel shows records from a k to k relation (k always =1)

Yes, but how? :)
Is there a simple way to do it?

Great feature :)

To share foundset you have to do it youreself.
So for example if you klik on a button of the tab then set the current foundset of that tabbed form in all the forms you like
(or any other event)

But what you want is really only good to do with the new feature because then you don’t have to use a relation that is always true. Then you have normal foundsets (or anything you want) in that tab.

Hi Johan, seems many of us is in badly need of this concept .

Appreciate to give us a tentative schedule. Otherwise, we may think of alternative way to meet our deadline .
