We’re pleased to announce the immediate availability of the first PowerPC Mac public beta of the ImageConverter plugin.
You can download the archive from the following links:
Link 1 (sitx format, about 12,4MB)
Link 2 (zip format, about 13,3MB)
Brief description of the plugin (more details in the included README.txt file):
ImageConverter is a Servoy plugin which converts image files in various formats to the JPEG format. Since Servoy cannot display many popular image formats, such as PS or EPS, with ImageConverter you can convert this images to JPEG and create thumbnails to be visualized in your Servoy solutions.
This is a beta version and you are allowed to freely use it for 20 days from the first use of the plugin in order to evaluate it.
It should work on Mac OS X 10.4.x (PowerPC) with Java 1.4 or 5.0.
Please note that it will not work on Macs with Intel processors. We’ll release an universal binary version in the next weeks.
We didn’t test on 10.3.x, but it if you have a Panther box and would like to give it a try, please let us know how did the test go.
This beta is Mac only but we’re planning to support both Linux and Windows in the final version.
Beta releases for other platforms will be announced through this forum as soon as they’ll be available.
The scope of this beta is to obtain feedback and suggestions in order to improve the plugin for the first official v1.0 release. We would be very pleased to receive any comment, bug report or impression. If you like, please drop and e-mail to info@melasistemi.it or directly by replying to this post.
Currently supported and tested input formats include:
JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF (monolevel), PICT, PDF, PS, EPS, PSD (monolevel).
However, ImageMagick (which this plugin uses) can handle a large number of formats, so you are encouraged to try to convert other formats: they may work.
You can find detailed description of the plugin API with code examples in the included Usage.rtf file.
A dedicated web page will be available soon.
