IT2BE Components Manager for Servoy 4/5 Introduced

Today we released our brand new tool: IT2BE Manager to manage your configuration and licenses of IT2BE Components for Servoy 4 and 5.

IT2BE Manager is a Command Line and User Interface Application that replaces the current mechanism to request licenses and install/update our Components.

Although the Eclipse Update Manager is a ‘standardized’ tool, used by most Eclipse feature- and plugin- developers, it is also a tool that made the installation and upgrade process a lengthy process due to the way the Update Manager works.

Additionally a big oversight was that it is not possible to install/update our Components without Servoy Developer installed.

It is fair to say that the current tools served their purpose but nothing more. They were not user friendly and needed much work to become better.

When we found out that Servoy 5 comes with a new version of Eclipse with a new Update Manager we knew that this was the moment to review the current mechanism and come up with a new and more flexible solution.

For the above mentioned reasons we started developing the IT2BE Manager Application. It is a stand alone application that should be installed in the Servoy root folder.

With IT2BE Manager you have a Command Line as well as a User Interface application to check, install, uninstall, update, downgrade, archive and unarchive our Components that works with installations of Servoy with and without Servoy Developer installed.
Additionally you can request for (trial) licenses using the same application.

A nice new feature is that it will be a lot easier to give you access to our beta components.

All in all we are proud to announce this new application and hope that you like using it as much as we liked developing it.

You can download IT2Be Manager here Servoy Components – Plugins, Beans, Web Components, Angular Services & Servoy Developer Consulting and IT2BE Manager Manual Servoy Components – Plugins, Beans, Web Components, Angular Services & Servoy Developer Consulting.

When you find bugs or have feature request you can use our Support section for that.

As always: Have Fun…

Marcel, I tested it, and it works so far!
this works MUCH better! :-)

the only thing is, that if want to start it on MAC I have to go to Terminal and type: java -jar it2be-manager.jar.
I can’t just double click on it. Is there a way so I can make a shortcut? and place it in my dock?

Also, the name in the menubar, is a little bit strange…

Hi Harjo, glad you like it.

FYI this will also work with future releases of not yet released projects (like Calendar 3.0 and Browser)…

Double clicking works on my Mac with either 1.5 or 1.6. Can you check the console or servoy log files, see what happens and create a support ticket?

The Mac menu item is something that I have tried to set from the source but I did not (yet) get it to work.
I could create an OS X application wrappe but the disadvantage of that approach is that I would have to distribute a seperate jar for command line use. I don’t think that solving a ‘cosmetic’ issue is more important than simplicity ;)

ah, yes, in Finder double click works, great! (I was doing that, from some kind of other filemanager)

just a small, thing: the icon, is still the java (boring) icon. ;-)

It is a jar, changing the icon makes no sense…

For those that already downloaded IT2BE Manager, we built a new version that adresses an issue on Windows and contains 2 (cosmetic) log changes.
