IT2Be started developing RSSreader bean

We are happy to announce the future availabiliy of the RSSreader bean.

IT2Be RSSreader will offer you the ability to embed a fully functional RSS Feed Reader in your solution.

Why would you use the RSSreader:

There are many standalone feed readers out there but the RSSreader bean serves a whole different purpose.
Imagine you are a software developer with many deployments and many namy users.
Every time you do a new release, you want to somehow notify your users. - You can post news on your website but not many people check your website regularly.

  • You can email a newsletter which means you need to have their email addresses. Even if you do, how often will your newsletters be filtered
    by junk email filters?
  • You can have your own network protocol and let your tool talk to your server when it starts. If there is anything new, notify your user through a flashing button in the user interface. These options serve their purpose but did you realize RSS can be used for the same purpose without wasting your precious time writing a new network protocol for it?

That is what IT2Be RSSreader for - to enable the usage of RSS inside your solution.

By embedding the RSSreader in your solution you can keep your users in sync with the content you want to them to know about, ranging from product releases, critical upgrade notification, company news, even product tips and tricks.

IT2Be RSSreader is available soon.
When you want to know why you can subscribe to our news via http://www.it2be.com/support/index.php?_m=news&_a=view

When is this available?

It will become a 4.0 bean.

As soon as 4.0 goes into beta we will finish development.

Actually it is nearly finished but due to the libraries we use and the current setup of Servoy it is not possible to show the bean in Developer (no issues in Client).
4.0, based on Eclipse, solves this issue :)

Will wait for servoy 4 :D

When you want I can give you a trial version of the bean.

It is a very ‘self supporting’ thing right now so there is not much to it but maybe enough for you or otherwise you can give pointers of what it should do…

The only disadvantage is that you can not run it from developer but need to run a client to see it working (that is why we are waiting for 4.0).

Please create a sales ticket at http://www.it2be.com/support when you want to testdrive (please add information about current IT2BE Plug-ins and Beans you use).

Of course this is applicable for everybody that wants to testdrive
