When a user uses two monitors (on one computer) and drags the Servoy client window to the second monitorscreen, all the dialogs and valuelists appearing on the main (1st) monitorscreen. Pretty irritating bug…
Hope this can be solved at the next release
That’s not a bug, that how most app’s will react.
hmmmm… most graphic designers and graphic offices use workstations with 2 monitors. I’ve been around for a while in that branch, but never noticed something like it…
If it could be possible to get it fixed, then that would be nice, but I’m not complaining too seriously
Normally all dialogs are opened with a relative distance to the main window, after the first time the size and location is remembered so you don’t have to resize en relocate the dialogs over and over again.
To overcome your isssue open editmenu->preferences->general tab->reset all dialog sizes.
After doing so the all dialog will open again relative to the main window (meaning all dialogs open on second monitor in your case)
be careful when you go back to a single monitor
when i disconnected the second monitor from my laptop i could not understand why servoy did not seem to respond any more to anything..
in the end Jan figured out that there was a dialog box popping up off screen which would have shown up on the second monitor, but i could not see it because i did not have a second monitor plugged in. had we not been in a servoy training seminar i think i might have spent days banging my head against the wall with this one
just in case you disconnect your 2nd monitor
Eugene
Thanks for the info Eugene!
So I guess the solution for this is:
1- quit Servoy Client
2- shutdown computer
3- disconnect 2nd monitor
4- startup computer again
1- in dual monitor mode, drag all screens and dialogs back into monitor one. Make sure you get all dialogs that have been on the second screen.
then
1- quit Servoy Client
2- shutdown computer
3- disconnect 2nd monitor
4- startup computer again
i was using developer so can only assume the same would apply to servoy client.
I noticed that when you drag the client application to the 2nd monitor during startup (before it connects to the server), that the valulist appears correctly.
If you have a 100/1000 mbs network and also a nice G5 (which I don’t), you need to be quick though…
