Need help with Sybase central and MacOSX

Hello everyone,

I’m new to Servoy and I need some help to to install my databases on a server.

I try to install Sybase Central on a G5 with MacOSX 10.4.9 without success. I understand that iAnywhere 10 is only for Intel, so I’ ve downloaded iAnywhwer 9.0.2 developer edition and installed it. The problem is that when I try to start Sybase Central I get this error:

“The library dbput9_r could not be loaded. This may be because the provider is being re-loaded (in which case you need to restart the viewer) or because the library could not be found in the Adaptive Server Anywhere installation. Service management will not be available.”

and the same for dbmlput9_r.

My Java version is Ok, I’ve reinstalled iAnyware several times, but it doesn’t help.

Irene

Did you reboot after Sybase install? You need to relogin to get paths right. Are you installing as the same user that is using it?

Hello Jan,

yes, I did, but it didn’t help. But afer rain is sunshine, I found an article at the Apple site and it works.

thak you anyway.

Confirm. :D After a lot of time, I have succeeded using Sybase Central with 9.02 on MAC OSX 10.4.10.
I have used the commands on Terminal:
Log in as an administrator.
Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities).
Type this command on a single line, followed by Return.

But I don’t succeed in launching DB Sybase and Servoy Server automatically to the start of the MAC yet. But only manually. :(
(As usual with MAC it would have to be a issue of formatting of line).
Thank you Irenem.

I have finally succeeded in starting Sybase DB and Servoy server automatically .
With this simple steps of Rogert Ivens on Magazine:
Figured out how you can startup the Application Server in OS X without any extra tools:

  • Put extra info in servoy_server.sh and sybase.config as mentioned in former posts
  • Select servoy_server.sh
  • get info (CMD i)
  • set Open With at ‘Terminal’, save and close
  • Open System Preferences
  • Go to Accounts > Serveraccount
  • Drag servoy_server.sh to Startup Items
  • Restart OS X Server (in case you like to test it)
    Thanks to Robert.

I am sorry. In my post I have omitted the command to be able to avoid the issue of the connection to Sybase Central.
Log in as an administrator.
Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities).
Type this command on a single line, followed by Return.

sudo touch /var/db/.AllowDYLDEnvironmentVariables
