New: Kydome Menus Plugin

Karel, can you check if the jar ‘commons-collections.jar’ is available in your folder ‘lib’ of your servoy installation?

Yes, the commons-collections.jar excist in the ‘lib’ folder…

Hai Karel I don’t see that error message! However, I don’t see the preference tab for the plugin either… It looks like this relates to rc1 or so since I have seen the tabpanel (I think :-( )

Hi Karel,

Will check to see if there’s something wrong in my plugin, or if it’s a 2.2 issue.

Paul

Paul,

Would you be so willing to disclose your pricing for us. I am very curious and want to take some decisions. Please…

Cheers

Yes! I’m curious too!

Is there going to be a “light” version? I only need “hide” and preferences.

And a unlimited server version?

TIA,
Stef

I also like the idea of a light version. For many of us it would be sufficient to simply hide the Servoy menu bar as a first step…

Hi all,

Sorry it takes longer than expected. Whereas at first, I had the idea of Client based licenses, some powerfull forces  made me see this was not the right way to go.

Instead of client based licensing, it will be more of a Develeoper based licensing. Allthough not fully crystalized, to give you an idea:
$100- small developer with 20 deployment licenses
$500-mid developer with 100 deployment licenses
$1000 - unlimited deployment

The reason why it takes a bit longer is that this concept is a bit harder to implement.

As for the light version: Stef, aren’t you looking for a Kiosk mode plugin, that, besides hiding the MenuBar, also hides the title bar? If that’s your need, I advice you to wait for Kydomes KioskMode plugin (scheduled after releasing the Menus plugin).

Hi Paul,

I guess it had something to do with the java configuration of my computer. I noticed that I couldn’t start SybaseCentral anymore too, so I decided to install my computer again… :(

After that the plugin does works fine.. sorry for the trouble.
I think it a great tool! Keep up the good work

good that it’s fixed :D

I’d been trying to reproduce, but so far no luck…

Paul

Kydome

Hello.
I use the Kydome_Menus plugin in my application in Servoy and I got an error of type: “getMainMenuNames is not a function”. In Servoy Developer I can see the plugin and all its functions. Also, the Kydome_Menus_Plugin_Demo.servoy solution doesnt work. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I tryed the plugin on different versions of Servoy, with different versions of Java and also on Mac and on Windows. I get the same error. I have to say that we used the plugin with the same application one year ago and it worked, so I dont have any idea what could happened.
Please help :D. Thank you, Cristina.

The complete error is posted below:

TypeError: getMainMenuNames is not a function. (modifyMenu; line 4)

Hi,

From where, i can download Kydome Menus plugin for Servoy alogwith the pricing list. The above supplied link is outdated.

Thanks
aservoy

As far as I know the kydome plug-in doesn’t exist anymore.

The alternative is our menubar plug-in. You can download a trial at http://www.it2be.com

Doesn’t Paul work with Servoy now? I think such a functionality should be standard in a tool like Servoy and yes, sorry Marcel, I know that would make your plug-in a bit less attractive. But in a sense using plug-ins should be for specialized functionality, not standard application building functionality - of course my opinion only. As using plug-ins makes beside the cost aspects (updates, changes, …) always dependency of the supplier, which is ok for special funtionality.
And I think the tool supplier should not be limited through all the plug-in suppliers and their possible loss of revenues if Servoy makes the functionality standard, although to some degree it’s of course exactly like this. Just my point of view of course.

Best regards, Robert

Servoy offers some possibilities to modify the menu bar (override commands, hide the menu). The question is: what is the definition of “specialized”? What is “standard”? FileMaker has managed to survive for ages without offering this standard functionality…

Patrick

You are of course right about the problem of defining what’s standard. I just didn’t want to mention FM, as I think it’s a bad example of what they do/did not offering such functionality.
But without being specific I think there are some standards customer expectations from an application today and that’s what an IDE more or less should offer (yes I know it’s oversimplified .-)

You will never find what everybody wants.

That is why there is business for third party component developers but also for companies like yours Robert :)

When Servoy came to the market there were so many things part of the package that nobody could believe it, still we all wanted more and get more.

I for one am glad that Servoy can’t concentrate on everyting :) But also that they don’t because that gives them time to concentrate on the most important things…

Just my 2cents
