New Word plugin v1.0 beta available

January 9, 2005 Today the first beta of the new Word plugin is ‘finally’ available. Cross platform (Windows and Mac OS X) creation of a Word document based on a template and bookmark replacement are now as easy as you were already used to as a developer of Servoy solutions.

Document creation is based on a (default or user selectable) template located on the (client) pc or the database.

After creating the document it is possible to add data through bookmarks added to the template. Replacing can be done bookmark per bookmark or by inserting a dataset, foundset or record.

Finally the plugin enables you to print or save the document. A document can be saved as .doc, .rtf, .txt or .html simply by adding the correct extension.

In the future we will also add mailmerge…

The included sample solution gives you an idea of the way you can create a document and has a template included in the database.

Please report any bugs since this is really a beta!!!

You can apply for a trial key at Servoy Components – Plugins, Beans, Web Components, Angular Services & Servoy Developer Consulting. We also updated the trial backend because it was too unstable. When you receive an error message please report it via our website.

Hi Marcel,

Congratulations and thank you! This looks terrific!!!

You really contribute a lot to the Servoy community, and your efforts are appreciated.

Best,

Rich Coulombre

Wow Rich,

I am blushing here

Thanks for the compliment, I really like it (both the compliment as well as creating all those plug-ins).

Ciao

Is it possible to place text in a Word textbox with the plugin? I use this a lot for postal address info.

I can’t think of any reason why not but I haven’t tried it.

Well… I tried it, but it didn’t work… also headers and footers doesn’t seem to accept the replace bookmark thingy
