Portal field Resizing

How can I allow resizing of a field in a potral (that has horizontal scrollbars allowed), to extend as far as the user wants it to, without it condensing he other fields in the portal. There are some cases when a user might want to extend several fields at once.

set the property allow resize on the portal and anchor(left+right) the fields allowed to be resized by enduser
