Printer Control in OSX

Hi All,

We’re using Star TSP 143 receipt printers in Mac OSX 10.4 and 10.5. We’re wanting to basically switch open cash drawer on/off along with one or two of the printers other features. We’re looking for the best way to do this on OSX to start, but eventually will need the same thing on PC. We’re looking at the best case with as little end user interaction as possible. Is there command line options that we should be looking at? Applescript? Something else maybe?

Maybe I should rephrase because I think I’ve made it sound a bit harder then it should be.

What were looking to do is be able to change the printers options on the fly from within Servoy. For example print in color/b&w, tray selections, the printer’s basic options that can’t be controlled via page settings. Our main focus is the Mac platform at present. Anyone have any ideas?
