Removing Text Entry Results in Blank, not NULL

Servoy 3.1.3 and Sybase 9

two text fields are compared in a method, IF(a == b). Since they start out NULL, javascript considers them equal

However, if I enter text in b, then delete the text, field b is now BLANK, not NULL, and the equality is broken

however, it appears I can set the Sybase column default to a blank, as a workaround

Any comments appreciated!

you could ask

if ((!a && !b) || a == b)

This means, either both fields are empty OR null or they are equal. That should work.
