selecting option from type-ahead drop-down not working

Have type-ahead field associated with a Persons value list displaying names from person table (non-unique) but saving person_sn in field. If I type ‘j - e - r’ into the field, resullting in a display of…

Jerry Robinson, Sr.
…and I select either of the first two 'Jerry Robinson’s in the drop-down list (either by hitting cursor-down or selecting with the mouse), the same person_sn (associated with the last ‘Jerry Robinson’) gets placed in the field.

Problem occurs when one uses the ‘Enter’ key to select, as opposed to ‘Return’.
