I’m hoping someone out there can help… I’m teaching an undergraduate college course in database management. Students are to use Servoy to create a couple of simple applications. They can use either Postgres or mySQL as the backend. Several of those of who used mySQL are having trouble connecting Servoy to the database. Unfortunately, I’m using Mac OS X and everything is working seamlessly for me, so I can’t reproduce their problems.
Does anyone have a simple set of instructions for making the connection between Servoy and mySQL? I’d be grateful forever!
Thank you for trying, but that link goes to a page that discusses making a Postgres database. (Some Windows students are having problems with that, too, but it seems to be Windows related…) These people need to connect to an existing mySQL database.
Thanks to all of you who tried to help during Spring semester I’m now writing a Servoy guide for my students, who think programming is as dangerous as a zombie. (I teach at Marist College.) The guide uses “canned” scripts where all they have to is substitute the names of their forms and fields where necessary.
I’d be very interested in knowing if anyone else is using Servoy as a part of a college or university course. Right now I’m exploring publishing options for the guide. I can either publish it in electronic form myself or work with my long-time book publisher to create an electric/print on demand version.
