Servoy.app dies on Mac.

I have an issue that seems to only occur on the Mac. I will install Servoy and everything seems to be running fine. In a day or two I will get a call from the user saying that Servoy won’t start.
When the user clicks on the Servoy icon on their desktop, it brings up Java Web Start and then it goes away without launching Servoy.

If I do a re-install, it will once again work fine. Then in about a day or two I will get another call from the user saying that died again. I go and reinstall and the whole thing starts over again.

How do I look to see what is causing the problem?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi Jim,

What do you mean exactly with ‘re-install’ ?
And you are talking here about Servoy Client right? So that would be Servoy Client.app? Or are you talking about Servoy Developer, wich is named Servoy.app.

Sorry for the confusion. I would install Servoy Client on the user’s machine again. The problem I am having only occurs with Servoy Client.

Hi Jim,

I am trying to get a better idea of the situation here since I never heard of this issue before.
When you ‘re-install’, what do you do exactly.
You remove the .servoy folder from the users home folder and trash the java webstart cache and re-download the client again ?
Also what is the setup of the user. Is it in a very much controlled IT environment or is this a single installation?

I first drag the Servoy Client icon to the trash. Next I remove the Servoy folder from: /UserX/Library/Caches/Java/cache/javaws/http/.

Remember this only happens on the Mac. All of my PC users do not have this issue.

I then download the .jnlp file and install Servoy Client all over again.

The user will be fine for the next day or two and then the desktop icon will stop functioning. It will pop up as if it is loading Servoy, but the die. The application won’t start. When I do the above mention process all over again, it will then work.

What Mac are they using?

We had problems with the Mac Mini Intels.

Other Macs are all okay.

What happens if you just try to start the client by typing the url in the browser? of start from main page like http://…/servoy-webclient ?
I wonder if the shortcut is just corrupt or client installation is the problem.

When the Client fails to open take a look at the Console utility and report back to the forum the error message that you see there, without it it’s not easy to help you.
