Servoy Developer Licenses vs Servoy Server Licenses

Hi guys:

Sorry for my stupid question. We bought 2 Servoy Developer Licenses which are already installed in the programmers’s computers.

I understand that to install the servoy server it is needed the servoy developer. Should we buy another servoy developer license for the server?

I understand that sybase db comes with it. How should install it?

Thanks,

Mary

When you do an installation on a machine that will run the Servoy Server there is no need to buy a developer license.
The developer will run for a certain time to serve the need for certain tasks you might want/need to perform. What you do need however is client licenses.

Cheers,

Marcel

Thanks for your answer! I installed servoy in the server, and the service was started.

Another question: I am very new in this topic. I want to set an administrator account in the server using Servoy developer, but I cannot access the Tools\Security option (it is hidden)… What I am doing wrong?

Thanks again!

Mary

Hmm, wouldn’t know but you should be able to do the same in the server pages. No issue if it is a one-time-thing.

If you want to import/export your administrator you should look a little further.

To be able to get to the Security section you need to have a solution loaded in Developer.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for reply!

I loaded Servoy Dev in the server, but the security option is not available.

Thanks again,

Mary

And did you load (open) a solution ?

yes

I just checked on my server. Works like a charm.

The menu item Tools > Security stays dimmed?
What version of Servoy/OS/Java do you use?

Sorry! I think I got it. I did not open a db with Servoy Dev, only load it.

Is this the way the admin privileges should be set?

Once the admin user is defined you can create users using the admin webpages.
You can access the admin web-pages by using the following URL structure http://yourserverip:8080/server-admin/
It will ask for your Servoy admin login and password.
From there you can control the server remotely and don’t need
Developer.

One thing you can’t do in the admin pages is creating groups.
But that would be mostly done only initially when you set things up (in Developer).

Thanks Robert! It was helpful.
