Servoy Wiki & Servoy 5.0 documentation

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the Servoy Wiki at http://wiki.servoy.com

This new source of information on Servoy currently contains a first draft of the Development Reference Guide for the just released first Release Candidate of Servoy 5.0.

Over the course of the coming weeks and months we will be completing the Development Reference Guide and adding the other Guides to the Wiki.

The Servoy Team

I like it! Great initiative and content Paul!

Great accessible resource guys!

Kudos! Very nice to have all the docs online and up to date!

This is great news indeed!
With Servoy 5 and a new dynamic and up to date what more could we dream of?

Thanks for this huge effort!

Just finished a massive update on the Development Reference Guide for Servoy 5:

  • Added all the Designtime objects, like Solution, Form, ValueLists and Relations
  • Reworked the JS Lib structure
  • Added runtime forms object branch
  • Overall updated descriptions and SampleCode
  • Fixed some layout issues

Thank you to Paul and everyone involved in this effort.

I know different people learn in different ways. I personally find this wiki approach to documentation very helpful. For me accessing the information needed is much faster using a wiki than thumbing through the pages of a manual!

And thank you for all the examples. There can never be too many examples!

I agree this is a major update.
I like the navigation/structure, much easier than browsing a PDF!

With examples and all, what is left to complain about now?

Thanks a lot to you and all the team,

-Patrick

Hi all,

We just published a new version of the Programming Reference Guide and a first version of the completely rewritten Deployment Guide (previously known as the Server Administration Guide).

Do note that it’s a first version: it’s not 100% complete yet, more stuff to follow soon. Also, some links in the docs might link to currently non existent content.

We did some internal reorganization, so if you had setup RSS feeds previously, you will have to subscribe to them again. From now on, the following URL will always get you the docs for the latest final version of Servoy:
http://wiki.servoy.com/display/DOCS (URL edited after comment below)

Hi paul,

am I right if the link should be: http://wiki.servoy.com/display/DOCS ?

at least it works then

Hi Paul

We try to set up Servoy 5. now, for help, we consult the Wiki Docu. Clicking on some menus like Running the Server as a service asks for a username and password. I don’t have one. Where do I get it?

Thansk for help, Robert

Those bits are still under construction, hence not publicly available.

Paul

Ah, ok, can or should I use then the Servoy 4 docu, even if we install Servoy 5 now?

Regards, Robert

Is it possible for the height of this heading be increased in size or colour changed. With the current hight and colour I personally find it difficult to read. The height of this does also appear slightly different depending on the browser.

Gotta love the wiki…Thanks

We will look into it. The proper styling is set, but doesn’t seem to get applied.

Paul

Not being a big fan of wiki’s, I was somewhat dismayed when Servoy announced that they were moving their documentation to one. However, after using the Servoy wiki several times, I am finding it to be a very useful reference tool with good examples. It is well organized and easily accessible. In fact, it is now on my Favorites Bar in IE8, and I keep it active while working in Servoy. I implore other Servoy developers to, at least, have a look at it.

Great job, Paul and team…I know it will only get better!

The issue with the wrong fontsize for some of the headers is finally fixed, through an update of some of the tools we use to manage the Wiki content.
