Salerno, has some kind of scan-tool, build in his plugin.
This stuff will be released again today (Sat, 12th Nov).
Not just the demo, but a full download will be available this time.
The demo also supports full directory import/upload to server if you have a set of images you wish to place on the server file system. Otherwise you can DnD individual files onto individual records.
I have broken up the large demo into a number of atomic solution.
I’m working on a scanner plugin too, I hope to have it finished in a month or so. Drop me an email if you’re interested in beta testing.

You actually will want to use the Streamed Image Bean solution.
I will have that uploaded today sometime.

Just wanted to say Nicola’s Scanner Plugin is really neat (haven’t tried SalernoJ’s plugin). I have one user testing the beta on Windows XP and have had very good feedback. And it also works on the Mac.
