Why does the warning dialog show an exclamation mark and not a question mark?

An Exclamation mark is quit normal for a warning dialog.
If you want a question you can use the question dialog.

Sorry, I meant question dialog. Mine displays an exclamation mark. On Mac OS 10.4

The icon is dependent on the look and feel.
