I love the new Sybase backend and their online documentation is great. But I was wondering if it might be possible to get their documentation printed up in the same manner the Servoy books are printed by ondemandmanuals. There is a LOT of stuff in there and sometimes it is good to just be able to read and browse through it when one has time. Sybase themselves don’t seem to print the documentation up in book format.
My question to Sybase on 4/16/2004:
“How can we purchase the M-^SASA Database Administrators GuideM-^T in book form instead of as a PDF file?”
Sybase response:
“You can purchase our documentation guides on e-shop found at this link http://eshop.sybase.com/eshop. The catalog number is 17329. The catalog number will bring up documentation for SQL Anywhere Studio v 7, 8 and 9. You just have to decide on the version you want. The price for the documentation set is $299.00 USD plus shipping and tax. If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact us at this email or by calling 1-800-801-2069.”
I ordered on 4/23/2004. I will reply back to this thread when I receive them and let you know how they look.

The Sybase manuals just arrived.
Looks like I got my money’s worth for $299. It is an entire library. About 20+lbs and two feet thick. It includes the following books:
Introducing SQL Anywhere Studio (148 pages)
What’s new in SQL Anywhere Studio (239 pages)
Adaptive Server Anywhere Getting Started (183 pages)
Adaptive Server Anywhere Database Administration Guide (737 pages)
Adaptive Server Anywhere SQL User’s Guide (733 pages)
Adaptive Server Anywhere SQL Reference (821 pages)
Adaptive Server Anywhere Programming Guide (these 7 are shrinkwrapped together)
Adaptive Server Anywhere Error Messages
MobiLink Synchronization User’s Guide
SQL Remote User’s Guide
Three other thin manuals
UltraLite for MobileVB User’s Guide (these 10 are shrinkwrapped together)
UltraLite ActiveX Users Guide
UltraLite Database User’s Guide
MobiLink Synchronization Reference
UltraLite Embedded SQL User’s Guide
UltraLite Static Java User’s Guide
UltraLite Static C++ User’s Guide
Three other thin manuals
My first reaction - looks like we won’t be complaining about a lack of Sybase documentation.
Personally, I would rather have too much documentation than not enough.
If anyone is interested in “borrowing” either or both of the shrinkwrapped groupings, let me know. You pay the shipping.
Or get the full Core Documentation Set as PDF.
