I changed a ‘regular’ dataprovider column to a label/button in order to give it an action and make it clearer that an action could be performed. When I did that the tooltip text that I had used (‘%%samplename%%’) no longer showed the dataprovider value of samplename but instead just showed that value itself, ‘%%samplename%%’. I’m not sure I’ve done this before (i.e. using a tooltip with a label and merging data with tags in that tooltip) but the wiki seems to indicate it is fine with labels and buttons. It mentions seeing the “Merging data” section for more details but I couldn’t find that section. I tried both checking and unchecking the displaysTags property. This is Servoy 6.0.2
Hi John,
when you tick the property checkbox ‘displayTags’ of the label, you should be fine.
Yes that was what I thought. But doesn’t seem to make any difference whether it is checked or not: it simply never works on web client. Strange thing is on Smart client it will work sometimes but it is very, very slow to respond and it doesn’t seem to make any difference either whether displaysTags is checked or not! The other regular fields also don’t make any difference whether displayTags is checked or not. For those the tooltips also always show up quickly with the merged data and again regardless whether displaysTags is checked or not. I don’t have an example close at hand but I seem to remember one ALWAYS had to have displaysTabs checked if one wanted to show merged data with ‘%%%%’.
Just checked it on v6.0.3 and it works as expected… (both smart + webclient)
Yes strange. Works fine with me on all my normal fields. Originally this was also a normal field and then I changed it to a label/button (with a dataprovider) to make it clickable and visually different and it lost the tooltip functionality. I don’t really need the tooltip there in that way (better to just tell what ‘clicking’ will do). But it was/is a little strange. I’ll play with it some more when I have a chance. It is a table view within a portal. Just thought there might be a difference with 6 how they are handled. (I’ve been moving straight from 3.5 to 5.2/6 in the last few months so there are big gaps in my knowledge! ).
