Hi Folks - been using Navicat for MySQL and SQL Manager for SQLServer, both of which (almost LOL) give me what I wanted. My most wanted features are:
SQL Builder
SQL Dump (not available in SQLServer of course)
Copy and paste columns between tables etc.
Just general ease of use in handing tables and SQL code etc.
I’ve been through SQLServer (primarily to allow easy upsizing from MS Access tables) and laterly MySQL, but for ease of use and because I want to standardise between two developers now, I’m thinking of adopting the Servoy freeby, Sybase!
My one concern is that Sybase Central does not offer the tools I really want for easy table handling as noted above.
Q. What external SQL tools are availablefor Sybase (on Win) and what are you other folks using?
I’m using Db Visualizer Pro for all the database servers I connect to and I really like it. There is a free version but the commercial one is really worth buying.

looks interesting, has anyone used it?
I’m just using the standard
MySQL Administrator for automated back ups
and
MySQL Query Browser
for simple search and replace changes,
I’ve bookmarked

When it comes to MySQL you cant overlook Navicat IMHO - excellent tool - but no good for Sybase unfortunately.
By far the best tool IMHO is Aqua Data Studio and without question it is the best if you are using more than one database vendor. Like Servoy works with any JDBC compliant database, has excellent ERD tools, schema/results/query comparison capabilities and really first class support. Speed of development is amazing and incorporates good user suggestions quickly and transparently. Number of features is too long to list and I’m always discovering new things that I didn’t know existed (just like Servoy). (They are aware of this and are now working on redoing their support to make it more searchable).
I can join the praise for Aqua Data Studio…
ADS certainly looks like a great tool - but at $400 a developer, and compared to some of the other available tools, it can be very expensive.
Is there anyone who has used both Db Visualizer Pro and Aqua that could give a quick heads up on which is the best value?
