Window menu behaviour

The Window drop down menu shows 20 items. The first six cycles through recent form visits, the bottom 14 are permanent with forms I haven’t gone to in well over a month. In order to get to where I want, I’m currently jumping into the Choose Form dialogue once or twice an hour.

Is this caused by some preference setting somewhere? Doesn’t seem to be affected by whether the form is set with an eye icon or not.

i just tested this with youre 7 office solution
and thisis not the case when i am testing it.
the window that is not used in a long time is removed. So slowely the ‘new’ onces are filling up. Are you really sure that only the top 6 are cycling whey you select one wich isn’t in the list?

After posting this it occurred to me there are a series of forms which are visited during the log on process, not used afterwards. These constitute the bulk of the 14 that sit there immobile.

Meanwhile as I work on debugging I’m left with a tight window of six. Anything I can do to flush the 14, give me some room while developing?

there can’t be a 6 room…
one of the 14 you don’t load anymore except when loading in the logon process wil be gone when you open the 7th one.
But for developing you could easily let the window dialog open. So that you can switch very fast between forms but just clicking in the dialog that you have somewhere on youre screen, will be much faster.

I’ve been watching this fairly closely today. I’m seeing forms I’ve manually opened earlier in the day during development disappear and ones towards the bottom of the list which are never visited (unless through hidden automated processes) remain immobile.

Yes, I’m using the Window dialogue (have to). Seems such a waste of screen real estate when a drop down menu could show the most actively used forms. If that’s the way it must be, so be it.

Kind regards,

there is no bottom of the list..
The list is always sorted!!!
Only the least used one (somewhere in the list) will dissappear) when you open a form that is not in the list.

If that’s the case, I have routines which must be revisiting forms again and again inefficiently and likely unnecessarily. Is there a way to test for this?

What’s frustrating me in my debugging, a form I was last at 30 minutes ago has already disappeared from the list when I attempt to navigate back to it. Meanwhile forms which have to do with setting up new users (completely unrelated to processes I’m focusing on) remain.

Recent visits are always at the top of the list (the first six or seven). Forms I’m not aware of going to sit resolutely at the bottom. When forms disappear from the list it’s always towards the top.

Are you saying that the list is not sorted??
Because you are saying that only the top is active.. But that is very strange because are you then only selecting everything that starts with an a or b??

I have no idea what happens but i did try it out with youre solution and it exactly behaved as it should.

I’ll grab some screenshots today, show you what I mean.

i see this all the time also. the forms i work with a lot
are rarely in the windows menu, and the items in the
menu are almost always forms i haven’t looked at in
months.

That is the case when you first start up, open the solution
But when you are working and you have opened 20 of youre most recent forms. Those 20 are shown there.

oh, ok. i think i see what you mean.

so when we exit the app, it doesn’t update that list?

is it something that will be added at some point?

I’ve been monitoring this situation closely all day. For quite some time I could have sworn that forms I was at earlier in the day had disappeared. Which was why I raised this issue originally. But not the case today.

My daily starting position is low interest forms, ones I haven’t gone to in well over a month. Restoring the previous session’s list at startup would be a great help.

Apologies for taking up band width on such a minor issue.
