I have been reading the forums and tutorials for a few days now and am starting to play with Servoy. However, I have installed the application and when i try and ‘checkout’ one of the demo solutions i get an error saying:
Cannot Checkout. Could not write object servoy_sample_solutionModule to workspace directory /Users/nunz/.tpdir
For some reason it thinks this is my workspace directory, when i have explicitly changed the workspace path in the servoy preferences? I have uninstalled/reinstalled the software to see if that helped, but no luck!
In terms of config, I am on a macbook, running 10.5.7 (and the latest java update and servoy eclipse 4.1.2) the only ‘non-standard’ thing is that my account is a ‘mobile’ account, bound to an open directory server…so it ‘controls’ my home directory somewhat (in terms of syncing etc) so that COULD be a factor at play…as it means the Users/nunz directory is not ‘writable’, however directories within it are?
The stranger thing is that Servoy seems to be ignoring the path i set in preferences?
Anyway, I have searched the forums for an answer, to no avail…so I am hoping someone here has seen this problem too.
It looks like a fantastic tool and I look forward to getting my teeth into it!

I think it doesn’t take the setting from there, but did you try to assign another workspace from Serclipse?
You can find this in the file-menu > switch workspace > other
After that, Serclipse will restart an you can try your checkout again…
thnx for your response. I am enjoying reading through the firum and the documentation…it seems like an extremely powerful tool. I played with it a bit several years ago…then i got distracted…but now i have some time to learn a new tool that may be better suited to a project I am undertaking…and boy, Servoy really has matured!
I have tried the switching workplace as you suggest…to another directory that i KNOW i have r/w privs in and it STILL won’t let me check out the solution files?
What am i doing wrong? I have just run the update checker and have the ‘latest’ servoy/eclipse patches now… and tried changing the workspace directory again…and this is the error i get now?
Servoy’s team provider need a writable dir for its temp files,
this dir is created by default in the current user’s home, but it
can be changed here : Preferences → Team → Servoy Team Provider : “Temporary directory”
