[Announcement] New phone plugin released

We are proud to announce the immediate availability of version 1.0 of our new Phone plugin for Servoy.

The Phone plugin allows you to tie your Servoy solution to a PBX and give you full control over your phone:

  • make calls from within Servoy
  • answer calls
  • instantly look up the caller’s record in the database when a call comes in
  • hang up a call in progress
  • log all incoming, outgoing and missed calls
  • run a method whenever a call is transferred to your phone, accepted, missed or hung up

The phone plugin uses either ilink TeamCall TAP or TeamCall Express as a middleware to connect to your PBX. TeamCall TAP supports a range of popular PBX brands such as Aastra DeTeWe, Alcatel, Avaya, Cisco, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, Nortel, Panasonic, Siemens, ShoreTel (see here for a list of TeamCall TAP supported PBX).

TeamCall server is available for Linux, Mac OS X, SCO Unixware, Solaris and Windows. If your PBX is not in the list of supported systems, you can use TeamCall Express and connect to your PBX using a TAPI connection. Since it uses TAPI, TeamCall Express is only available for Windows. The plugin will work with either TeamCall Server or TeamCall Express.

The former Phone plugin that we offered has been renamed to JTapi plugin. The JTapi plugin does not require any additional licenses for middleware products, but requires a Windows server. From our experience, using TeamCall as middleware is more robust and reliable than using plain (J)TAPI.
