App. Server does not start

I just installed Developer 4 on Vista.
Rebooted and went to checkout: “App.Server does not accept client connections”
I found out that Developer cannot start the App.Server.
Even worse: App.Server could not be started manually with the bat file!
Can someone point me in the right direction plse.

Regards,
Ron

Hi Ron,

I don’t run Vista so I can’t check this but perhaps Vista is blocking any connections to be opened ?

Hope this helps.

Indeed blocking problems Robert…
Solutions:

  1. Open port 8080 (Start>Control Panel>Firewall>Exeptions>Add Port)
  2. Developer and App.Server must execute as administrator (r-click mouse and you’ll see the option)
Dunno which of them did the trick, I think setting the Developer.
First impression: I am not a big fan of Vista but must say fieldnames are far better visible than in XP.

Ron

best solution for not having problems in vista (especially Vista64)
is NOT to install it under C:\program files\

just create another directory and install your stuff there.
