Dead in the Water

I downloaded the 3.0 beta to install on my Intel-based MacBook Pro. The installation seemed to go fine, but I can’t get past step one. I get the error message:

org.firebirdsql.jdbc.FBSQLException: Resource Exception. Unable to complete network request to host “localhost”.
Reason: Unable to complete network request to host “localhost”.

I don’t know why it can’t connect to itself and can’t find anything in the documentation that tells me what the proper setup should be.

did you install 3.0 over on ‘old’ version? It looks like that.
make sure your Servoy-install is a clean install. (not over an old version!)

I had the same issue before I installed the beta. I’m not sure how I can get back to a completely pristine state to reinstall. Will the uninstaller remove all files from older versions?

just remove the Servoy folder (in Program Files)
than it should be fine!

What do you know? Such a simple solution. It works. Thanks.

As Harjo pointed out Servoy only sits in its own folder and doesn’t mess with anything on your OS: if you install in a fresh folder it will always work and Firebird messages shouldnt appear after 2.x installs (or higher). In case you are unsure just install in some unused folder eg. /Applications/neverused/reallynot/etc/Servoy3.0.b.3.000001

and PS.

being a daily Macbook Pro user: it rocks! and it’s really, really fast! both running mac or windows or both!

…with that kind of endorsement, I just cant put this off any longer :D

If you are upgrading from a G4 PowerBook, you will be very happy you did. Things that seemed to drag on forever on the G4 happen nearly instantly on the MBP.

Stunning, I am and looking forward to the results! Lee McNeil found and app for switching between Windows, 3 open Mac OSX clients on the same Mac Book ie Windows, Mac 1, Mac 2 Mac 3 …so I guess from a demo perspective this is a real cracker!!

Cheers
