I am not sure if this is the correct place for this topic.
After updating to Java 1.6 u25 on win xp pro sp3 all of my Servoy 5.2.7 developer shortcuts will not start up.
Even the servoy.exe in the developer folder refuses.
I can start the application server without error.
I did have issues installing this update - it did not want to do it at all so I had to go back to an early access version.
However the failing mode appears to be identical.
Running the version 6 beta 2 is ok.
Should I re-install 5.2.7?
There are NO logs that I can see relating to this issue.
The error message popup is as shown in the screen capture.
The java vm does exist at the given location.
There are a few of the hs_xxx.log files but they are dated from before February this year none recent.
I did a re-install into a new folder and the developer runs ok there.
I then copied over the servoy.properties file to the new location and it also works.
The original servoy5 installation was updated over a few months so maybe some old jar files are not compatible with this new relase of the jre?
I did notice that the eclipse equinox jar file is a different version in the latest download compared to prior. Maybe some eclipse related jars are out of date and do not properly get updated when I update servoy.
I will assume some operator error happened and carry on using the new installation version.
Interestingly the next experiment that I did was to re-install 5.2.7 over the original folder (the one that I used for the 5.2.0 plus updates to get to 5.2.7). Even after this was done the developer still crashes with the same error message. I guess the installer does not overwrite files that it finds in the folders (the servoy.exe still had the same date stamp as the original).
Now I have to re-install all the plugins etc and set up the servers again. Copying over the servoy.properties file to the new location of the install certainly sped up the process.
@Harjo,
yes about a hundred times!
I kept on getting an erorr dialog indicating that “this software has already been installed do you wish to re-install?”
When I affirm the re-install it flashes on the Oracle window that has some text overwritten or in Japanese characters and then it disappears.
So I had to remove the software altogether but it did not remove it completly from the registry (win xp pro sp3) so I had to manually go into the registry and remove more stuff. Even using a registry tool did not help.
So finally instead of trying to re-install the jdk/jre 1.6_u25 I found 1.6_u25-ea to force the install. This seems to be fine but is not the “official release” of course.
After all of that I migrated over to the new installation folder of Servoy and am slowly getting back to where I was two days ago.
