Extra Column Being Created

Hello,

For some reason, when I created this paticular solution and entered some columns, Servoy went ahead and added an extra column that I can’t remove. Please see attached screenshot.

The extra column is named “dummy_col”, and when I try to remove it I get the following error: "ASA Error -143: Column “dummy_col” not found. I even tried first creating the dummy table and columns with Sybase Central 9.0.1, but Servoy still added this dummy column. The weird thing is that so far it’s the only table that’s affected. Other tables I’ve created are “normal”.

Any ideas?

thats odd, so after a restart the column is there listend but it isn’t really in the database (looking at it with sybase central?)

What happens if you export it and import it again in a clean repository?
If you also have it then, please send us that solution (upload to our support system)

Hi Jan,

Yep. Here’s a short movie that illustrates this problem:

Am I doing something wrong?

FWIW, I can export the solution, but I can’t re-import it (tried both a regular and clean import). I get the same error that’s on the video (-124).

Is “dummy” a reserved word in Servoy?

FWIW, here’s a screenshot from Sybase Central:

I think there’s actually something about naming a table “dummy” that triggers the creation this extra “pseudo” column. I can reproduce this on any database. Can anyone confirm this? NOTE: try this on a test database, not a production database.

This is really weird.

Hmm, I think Servoy is already secretly working on some features asked for earlier like artificial intelligence. I can imagine they are working on tables like ‘dummy’, ‘smart-ass’, ‘stupid’, ‘intelligent’ etc.

What happens when you create a table ‘smart-ass’?

I predict it will create a virtual column named ‘marcel’ because it will constitute the same thing as the table name. ;)

hmm, they call that ‘back-fire’ or ‘boomerang’ effect :o

pleas sent that solution that you can’t import anymore to our support system.

Hey guys,

Can you reproduce this problem, or is my Mac cursed?

FYI, I think Servoy 4.0 is codenamed “goofball”

Johan, I’ll upload a sample solution later today.

Finally got around to sending a sample solution to Servoy support.
