Invalid license when copying to new system

We downloaded the servoy installation from the servoy website and attempted to configure it for our system. We copied our existing servoy.properties (which obviously includes database settings and license info), headless jsp’s and database jars. Then started servoy_developer. It complained that the license was invalid. We then tried to reinsert our license information, and the check always failed.

Is there another way to copy the license information over to a new installation?

Hi Frank,

When moving from a developer to developer environment you should be able to use the same properties file (when used with the same version).

So with the information you provided I have to guess that you wanted to setup a Servoy server. And that you moved your properties file that you used on your machine that you develop on, right?

In that case the license number is invalid. There are 2 different licenses. One for Developer and one for Server (actually for the clients).
To set the server license you have to access the Servoy-Admin pages and insert them there.
Then it all should work.

You were correct that we have a server license. This is what we copied over. It wasn’t the case however that we tried to copy this to our developer machine. What we were trying to do was to set our server up from scratch. Thus, our attempt was to download a clean new version of servoy from the website. Configure it, then start developer so that we can upgrade to 2.2.1 (can this be done without starting the server in developer mode?). Once upgraded it we would have run it in server mode.

The problem came at the point where we tried to start in developer mode to do the upgrade? Do we need to install a second license just for upgrade purposes? Or is there just generally a better way to go about this?

Use the clients licenses on the Servoy Server, you can still open developer without setting any licenses and use the trial license when you need to upgrade.
