Loads Very Fast on XP, VERY VERY slow on OS-X

On my XP laptop, it takes about 5 seconds from when I click on the icon until I am at the developer window. On OS-X (Tiger) it take over 30 seconds just for the splash screen, then after about 1.5 minutes, I get the Developer screen then it sits on “Application Server Init” for about another 2 minutes.

I have uninstalled / reInstalled the product (currently R2 2.2b1 on the mac)

ok, pretended this was a WINTEL machine and rebooted (which always helps windows!). Now total time to boot is down to 1 minute (still seems long!)

The systems are completely different
What hardware do you have in the mac and what in the wintel machine?

What java version do both have.

Maybe you are describing one of the reasons why Apple announced a switch to Intel :)

Things may not have been as peppy with the Mac, but after we installed Panther (and running Java 1.5) with 2.2rc1, the Developer launch has probably slowed 20x over what it was before.

Any idea what caused this? It was never close to being this slow to launch Developer before. Once Developer launches, response is as good if not better than before, and Client is again just as good if not peppier (even to launch).

I saw Jan Aleman writing about changes in the plist file on Mac OS X. Maybe you search the forum for that?
