I am unable to populate forms created with Adobe LifeCycle Designer 8.0 using pdf_output plugins convertPDFFormsToPDFDocument() function.
Taking the 1040 tax form in the pdf forms sample solution, and deleting and replacing fields with others with the exact same properties within LifeCycle Designer 8.0, causes failure to populate the data for those fields. However keeping the form as is populates just fine in my code.
Fill-in PDF forms created with Acrobat 5.05 work with Acrobat Reader 5 and 6. They also work with Adobe Reader 7 and 8. They are referred to as “Acroforms”.
Fill-in PDF forms created with Adobe LifeCycle Designer 8.0 are very different from Acroforms. It is my understanding that Adobe LifeCycle uses technology gained from the acquisition of Jetforms/Accelio. You might want to consider creating all your fill-in forms with Acrobat 5.05 in order to assure backward and forward compatibility.
I do not know if Servoy has any plans to support fill-in PDF forms created with Adobe LifeCycle Designer 8.0. Are there any Adobe LifeCycle Designer 8.0 form features that your solution requires that are not included with Adobe 5.05? If so, perhaps you should submit a request to Servoy.
I do know other forms developers who continue to create all their forms using Adobe 5.05 because Acroforms have proven to be such a solid standard.
