I have two problems:
- Importing data from a .csv Textfile (exported from FileMaker) into Sybase 10 shows additional characters instead of ‘umlaute’ like “ä, ü, ö”.
- Data (text) from a relation in a valuelist don’t show ‘umlaute’.
What can I do?

Thomas,
Some questions,
Are you using the file->Import from Servoy or using a sybase import tool (if Servoy, which version)?
The Servoy import reads files using the platform default encoding, which encoding was used when creating the files?.
Are you using one of the sybase (ianywhere) 10 databases as bundled with Servoy or have you created your own database?
if yes, did you specify a collation?
Do the umlauts work ok when entered in the user interface? Are they stored correctly in the db?
Rob
Hi Rob,
I have imported the data by using ‘File > Import’ from Servoy.
The imported files are created in FileMaker and exported there to a .csv file. In FMP 6 encodings could not be set, or?
Yes, I’m using a bundeled sybase 10 database and have created my own databases by setting ‘CHAR-collation = utf8bin’, ‘CHAR-fontsetcoding = utf-8’, ‘NCHAR-collation = UCA’ and ‘CHAR-fontsetcoding = utf-8’.
The ‘umlauts’ do working when entered/modified in the user interface and stored correctly in the db.
